An Eerie Sadness
By Nidhi Narayan
Since when have I strived for change?
The billion needles pinching right through my veins
The hurt, the pain, it persists
Running forever to escape the burn
Yet my soul welcomes the agony
The horror returns when I close my eyes
Seeing myself lying, lifeless like a cold rotten bag of fruits
Ready to be thrown away
I ache to see an escape, there is none!
Feeling like a hollow log, stale and half-dead
The void inside me, the scars on my skin, the fire in my heart
Like a black hole collapsing into itself
Tears roll down my eyes like a cold rain on a snowy winter
My breathe trembles and shivers through blood dripping from my arm
If I cut myself enough times, maybe the earth would swallow me
Like an insect in a Venus Flytrap
My own shadow mocks me for the love I give
The irony becomes a subjective truth
The hate I feel for myself embarks the cause for death
I fool my soul into living, for I have died a million times
