✍🏽 an action kind of love.

to say that “i love you”

is not enough.

for words can be forgotten,

words can be erased

so permit me to be to your

mason- mixing concrete affections

with building blocks of devotion,

plastering my palms on your cheeks

on days the world shows you cracks

of depression

permit me to be your painter,

brushing off your tears

with my silly jokes after i

turned out to be a really bad

dancer

to say that “i love you”

is not enough

for words can lose meaning

so let me be your waiter,

let me serve you with the love you

deserve- the being asked to dates,

the being sent gifts with a not saying

“i saw this and thought

it’d look good on you” and

the being written about

as though the pen had no weight.

to say that “i love you”

is no close to being enough,

so come with me to church,

hear the Word for yourself,

attain your own salvation,

so when our mortal days expire,

our love will continue in a

place of peace

and not of destruction and fire.
