An Absurd Poem

Pareidolia*

Apophenia*

Are like a mania

I suffer the sounds

And hear them around

When I see in the clouds

Ghosts shouting aloud

Sometimes sublime

Sometimes benign

In your voice

I hear and rejoice

Sounds of trinkets

Of fairies singing in chorus love songs

In a thicket

Peeping through the window

I see the old woman smile

In moon’’s profile

Wait a minute I come

With gongs and drum

Celebrating my manias

With apricots and plums.

* pareidolia=seeing things which aren’t there

*apophenia=tendency to perceive meaningful connection between unrelated things
