Almost Everything

They said you were bad news - to you, love was just a game.

They warned me of all the trouble I would bring.

Instead I listened to my heart, ignoring everything,

Believing any girl would have done the same.

At first there were roses, and I believed in love,

We bantered endlessly and I couldn’t get enough.

But I let you use me until I went numb,

I let you use me till I’d finally succumb.

Now we pass like strangers in the halls,

But I still wonder if any of it was true.

The worst part isn’t that I lost you…

It’s never knowing if I had you at all.
