Afloat
By Jayanta Biswas
It is a few times now
we have mated again
assisted by no passion divine
but something of earthly nature.
Heavenly bliss!
No it is not.
It is a poised balance
between life and death
a flicker of hope long subjugated.
The trauma of reality
disfavourably perceived
not independent of the observer
makes it complicated
the reality that is
somehow it pushes away the possibility
of making a solo journey.
Now then the time runs smooth
can it mend the scars
the scary perceptions
staying deep in the hollow
of the obscure oblivion
though in its own habit of memory churning
it squeezes the heart from time to time.
The beaming smile of the heredity
the cherubish one
the only roots and branches
the only pure thing
though not poorly but inadequately shaping
makes it ticking into the unknown future.
