Adolescence
By Maria Sufia
I sat and watched as the evening sun
Mixed with the dark in a miraculous way.
Thinking about what I've become
The changes in me since birth to date.
When I was younger, I wore it all
From skirts to shorts to sleeveless tops
Didn't care how perfectly my hair falls
How flawless was my skin or how long was my frock.
But in my teens things changed off the hook
From my attire to my behavior, all was scotched
I suddenly was concious of how I looked
And felt that I was always being watched.
How I spend hours infront of the mirror
A small pimple wasting all my money
Sometimes adolescence feels like a killer
This age filled with joy, tears and agony.
I sit here as the wind plays with my hair
And as I remember those halcyon days
Giving an absent minded smile to the sun that glared
Setting the whole scenery ablaze.
Sometimes life feels like a dyke of dystopia
Where everything is messed up and frustrating.
In adolescence, the age of ego and phobias
How life changes at every point, its amazing!
