ADDICTION

The loss of touch,
A seed of pain,
From a yearn for love
To a yearn for cocain
Who have I become?
Who is this person I see?
In a broken mirror
Full of pain and glee
A false sense of happiness,
A false sense of serene
A false sense of contentment
I can’t seem to maintain
Who have I become?
Who is this person I see?
In the dark shadows of my hallway passage
drenched in ecstasy.
A slave to the addiction
A slave to the pain
A slave to the bottle of Hennessey
That took my dad away
The apple doesn’t fall too far
But the seed from the tree wants to be free
Free from the overload of ecstasy.
