About the Work
"Addicted" carries a theme of irresistible yet destructive attraction, conveyed through vivid imagery and lyrical elegance. The poem’s mood oscillates between longing and introspection, capturing the essence of being drawn to something or someone despite knowing the harm it may cause. The use of oceanic metaphors adds depth to the narrative, symbolizing the overwhelming nature of such emotions and the inevitability of succumbing to their pull.

Addicted
I think I’m addicted to you,
To every little thing you do.
The pain you cause, it pulls me near,
Somehow it’s all I want to hear.
The closer that I get to you,
The more I know I can’t come through.
You’re everything I shouldn’t chase,
Yet I keep reaching for your embrace.
Your eyes are blue, like endless seas,
They call me in with every breeze.
Like sirens singing from the shore,
I know I’ll drown, but want you more.
You pull me under, pull me deep,
Into a love I cannot keep.
And every time I try to flee,
The tide just brings you back to me.
The lies you tell should make me leave,
But somehow make me still believe.
Your sweetest words, your sharpest pain,
I’d lose myself to you again.
Maybe I love what hurts the most,
The ghost of something we almost chose.
Because when you’re near, I feel alive,
Even knowing I won’t survive—
Not in the way the sirens knew,
But in the way I lose what’s true.
You’re an ocean I can’t swim through,
And still, I’d drown just to reach you.
