Abstract art

not too long ago we were in a gallery, we stood with pride no one could find a fault, no one could deride we were admirable, a beauty so new and rare it was something close to an answered prayer

we were the paint that formed an abstract art a messy masterpiece that was crafted by our hearts bold brushstrokes, colours soft and warm

yet now our love looks more like a storm

our canvas grew polluted, drowning in flaws even the walls refused to give applause

a showcase of romantic ruin and distrust

like an ageing mural saturated with dust

now the vibrant pigments might be peeling away but our relationship once hung in a museum display we were almost picture perfect, just missing a frame as if we were incomplete, a painting without a name

you were my muse, my favourite exhibit

today you're a memory too painful to visit

I can't admire the art we used to create

still the image of us refuses to dissipate

my cheeks are stained with watercolour tears as our fresco decays, forgotten through the years despite every effort, the painting of us fades hiding behind slightly shadowed shades

all that's left is a tint from what we were

a flaking work of art, a mere whisper

colours collided and messed up you and me now there's no trace of what we used to be
