A Woman's Story

By Hanvitha

in this patriarchal world, as a girl, I don't stand much chance, but

I wanna be the kind that makes a difference,

the kind that people look up to,

the one supported by everyone,

not because of how I look or what I wear

but for what I am

the least I deserve in this world is my right to everything

and all I get in return is misogynistic comments

the sexual abuse I speak about, is wrong

the depression I talk about, is crap

and the pain that I go through, is just "normal"

the eternal pain of living upto others' expectations,

it's not who I want to be,

I want to be me,

where the world understands me,

and I stand a chance to do something here

it kills me every second that my voice won't be heard,

that it'll just be another obscure story
