A Study In Rubik's And Remoteness
By Amanda Antoinette Rebello
A familiar wiff in passing
Ephemeral pheromonal trace
Stops my wandering thoughts
As an estranged tear creeps
Closer to the reality of
Your absence even though
You were just here.
Like an amenisic memory
Fading before I even breathe
The only confirmation being
A solved Rubik's cube that
Stares back in disbelief
At this lonely predicament
Altering previous perceptions.
As luck would have it
Fidgety fingers tamper with ease
All futile sentimentality.
Doubting whether the apparition
Was conjured or figment
The emptiness feels tangible
While nothing about us does.
