A Sound mind is to Me-

Of a little kid; of the cub of a Tiger,

is the mind I envy-

I long to bear.

For a sound mind to me is-

with less to fear,

even lesser to care.

Unlike one I've grown to bear,

those thrive in tranquil simplicity.

Unlike the one I've carved to life-

those dwell in the shallow, pleasant waters.

Unlike the one I've twisted and toughened,

those laugh in the meadows of innocence.

As often as the wonder of pain strikes me,

the less do I find another calming hand.

For there are ones to share their own servile dilemmas,

yet none to aid to mine.

Perhaps they know only my masks- so strong,

that bear the courage to state them wrong.

Perhaps they assume,

that one who can consume their worries-

and gift a happier thought-

would never require a shoulder to cry on.

Or perhaps, there is a shoulder as strong to hold my heavy tears and fears.

But how do I know?

Where it does grow,

to be watered by my pains and stains.

And how long do I wait-

or how far do I find,

the humane creature of the Sound mind?

How do I know- where its seeds are sown?

How do I map the path-

to the unknown?

So, here I lie,

with an open ear and an eye,

to heave off the other's sighs.

And keep the other pair,

to soak my own despair,

and bury it with me

into the ground.
