A Small Joy

A life is born at the dead of night

Smiles and laughter filled the room

In a corner mixed feelings start to stir

Sad, happy, worried and excitement all at once

No one knows about this pain

A new day comes and the light is bright

I watch as our new member comes to me

Finally saying his first words

‘mom, dad, sister’ I am filled with joy hope and fun

I love him

Cherished him

And will protect him

We love each other and that will never change
