A Silent Voice

What did I do? To be silenced with the pain, To leave all that I had gained, For you to banish my name.

Oh! What did I do? To make you come again, To be retained hand in hand For you destroy me like that, on those floors that made up my land.

What did I do? To be shut under your existence, To be wishing you would be distant, For you to just cut me for instance.

What did I- No wait, I now know what I did- I just refused your touch Cause I felt suffocated much. But you continued to thrive with lust, While I cried for vengeance to come and heal my cuts.

No, now I know what I did I just stood there in a piece of silence, While you broke me into your dominance, Just to be proud of your violence. Now I knew what you did, The pain you inflicted on that little kid Who could never slide away from you grip She lay there silenced with a tip Now she has slept forever with nightmares that blip…..

ABOUT THE POEM:-

I can’t begin to imagine how many children go through SA every year, our society is filled with ‘MONSTERS’ who thrive with lust and cruelty. I, myself was not very aware of these cases until I started researching. One of the cases that really got to me and became an inspiration for this poem was ‘THE 44 DAYS OF HELL’. This case took place in 1988, I’m sorry to break it to you but even after 34 years, nothing has changed. These atrocious cases are increasing day by day, night by night and unfortunately child by child. It’s so wrong that even in this new century we are teaching girls to respect boys and boys to respect girls, we should be teaching our children to respect humans irrespective of their gender. There are so many rape cases out there, cases that are still looking for tranquility and peace. That’s why this poem needs to be out there, to tell a story to people. A strong of pain & agony! May the silent voice of these people find serenity and love. WE HAVE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, WE HAVE TO BREAK THE SILENCE!

THANK YOU!
