A Shipwreck

The beginning felt like a breath of fresh air,

I stood silent and let the mild wind blow my hair..

Who knew that could be so much more!

That made both of us walk out of the door,

Sweet subtlety swept me off my feet,

Promises were laid out for the hearts to greet,

Beaming, I floated in the ocean of merry.

But then the storm hit hard and there was no

ferry.

The spiral took me to the bottom of the sea,

Gasping for breath my heart cried out some

plea.

Only for the mute echo to return to me,

Deep into the waters, rays of hope I failed to

see.

Never knew that love could be so violent,

Feebly I tried to resist the feelings that were

once lent.

A haunting feeling, am I the lone fighter in this dark deep?

For the promises I made and I intend to keep,

I succumbed and closed my eyes,

Let the storm play me like a dice!

I'll hold on to my faith for the tempest to pass,

Hope it doesn't leave a shipwreck of a lass.
