A Rose in Barren Land

What about the light that you have been holding for so long?

The spring of your life is near,

Your time to bloom fearlessly.

Society will talk- an endless chorus of chattering voices,

filled with fear and doubt.

Turn them into your thorns,

for holding you back for so long should make them unbearable.

Every room you enter should be filled with your gracious presence,

inviting hope and respect.

Cleaning floors and cooking meals should not be your ultimate purpose in life.

Cleaning out this judgmental society and cooking your dreams into reality should make you feel alive.

O woman, no one should define your place in this world,

for you are the definition of strength- fighting against the odds on the battlegrounds of inequality and disgrace.

Only the wise may truly understand: You are rare, like a rose in barren land.
