A Rhyme From A Terrible Time

Peace seemed eternal, calm seemed to prevail Health was jolly good and people happy and hale. But then came a cloud, dark as the night Threatening to wipe out all evidence of light.

From a corner in the Orient, it set the world ablaze Fast and furious, all in its path it would raze.

Communities slammed shut, people locked down Wiped out smiles all over, leaving a large frown.

A plague so terrible, it shocked our core And for so many it was simply a huge bore. But on the frontline, warriors looked aghast As painfully multitudes breathed their last.

But ay, one thing it didn’t gauge

Willpower and strength of humanity, no matter the age. Slowly but surely, a fight was born

Seemed to be tackling fate, no matter how forlorn.

Brains and brawn, we used them all

So that this devil might finally face its fall. For no evil can continue to reign

As the might of humanity will always be its bane

And so it was as we won the war

In spite of lost battles, deadly and gore.

We shall rightfully be proud for we have won But let’s not forget those we lost to this demon.

This might not be the last such evil (touch wood) But none can prosper in the presence of good.

For no monster can ever claim to faze

The hope and willpower of the entire human race.
