A Question

Today, I asked the moon,

“Would her life be better if we had never met?”

The moon replied,

“Stop questioning yourself.

You brought a smile to her face

when all she ever knew was pain.

You gave her laughter once again

where she used to be in vain.

You made her believe she deserved to be loved when all she ever told herself

was that no one ever would.

You became the moment

she always looked forward to,

a reason to wake with hope,

to make another day feel less dreary.

Yes, you messed up,

more than you can deny.

But that doesn't erase

the joy you brought into her life.

So now I ask you this,

Before you drown in what is gone,

“What would you have done

if you had never met her at all?”
