A Pigeon’s Interview

Fluttered my wings elegantly towards the queue of birds
Waiting to interview at central park with a loss for words
Migrated to New york, wanting to be amongst the elite lords
Traveled solo, carrying mail to the greatest park in the records
Competing against fast and domineering birds who won awards
Checked mirrors, shooing myself to stand out from the crowds
Flying confidently with panache, hoping interviewer to take heeds
Flapping pretty wings to masakali, pulling kabutar ja trick cards
Socializing adorably, breaking millets brought from the barnyards
Interrupted by the selector, asked me to roller skate multiple yards
Bewildered by the ask, winged the skate moves to soothe his moods
Faltered by the steps, disappointed the interviewer viewing scorecards
Unselected, flew away whispering “Words are mightier than swords”
Wishing to be perched on green trees someday, relaxing with no regards
Availing my aim seemed unlikely, rejection broke my heart to shards
Headed to washington square park to heal myself and make amends
Heard cheers from kids to soap bubbles in the park, sporting sunguards
Watching fountain water drop to rhythm, musicians tuning to be diehards
Uplifted but wondered if point of the interview was missed by leaderboards
Asking a bird with wings to skate is like asking a fish to fly by leaps and bounds
Judging talent aptly is a skill to be acquired and must strike the right chords!!
