A Note To My Younger Self

If I could meet her just once,

I'd have a lot to say,

I'd leave a note to my younger self,

And tell her we will heal one day!

I'd tell her that the broken toy was always better than the broken heart!

And that dealing with the broken heart was also an art!

Don't be in a hurry to grow up,

It's not all fun and game,

The real world hits you hard one day,

And then everything else seems lame.

I'd tell her to not be too sad about the friends left behind,

There'd be many more along the way.

Some would stay longer

And some you would be happy are out of the way!

She would know those textbooks didn't deserve her tears,

Life would be bringing along far bigger fears!

Or that the teacher who yelled at her,

She would meet her again never!

Those extra kgs that made her chubby,

Wouldn't matter much to her hubby.

The boy who didn't look her way

Is someone she would not consider anyway!

She should have spoken to granny more,

That would remain a regret sore..!

I would tell her that life got more difficult before it got easy!

But in the end all those hiccups seemed crazy.

I wish I could tell her that we survived all that and more!

Now we are strong enough for an encore!

We have already won at life's game,

Though I don't know who's keeping score.
