A NEW JOURNEY

Whole life I collected pebbles on the road,

Built many castles of dreams and wishes,

Purchased happiness for my dearest ones,

Gained success, wealth, fame and money.

Days were spent counting profit and loss,

Saving money, measuring defeat and win,

Loads of work, duties and busy schedule

Gave me no time to see the sky overhead.

I never knew that things were changing,

Time was running out fast behind my back,

Clouds were gathering on the western sky,

Day was declining, the sun was about to set.

Unnoticed, one day the retirement came,

A sudden shock came like bolt from the blue,

I saw a deadly darkness slowly approaching,

As if a fierce terrorist entered my house.

A stormy wind ransacked my cozy life,

I saw my coveted edifice being crushed

By the jaws of hungry time, one by one,

Like a poor deer captured in tiger’s claw.

Baffled, at the startling crossroad of life

I saw that the gems I gathered so far

Leaking out from the bag I toiled to carry

With my lifelong efforts and so much care.

At a loss, I cried out to the infinite sky.

Unaware how to spend my days ahead

Where only darkness frowns and scares.

I longed badly a hand to help me out.

Suddenly a distant call from the unknown

Entered my ears with a message of love,

Strong wind blew away all my worries,

A bright ray of light erased the darkness.

I could hear the birds singing aloud ,

Flowers bloomed and presented smile,

Forests and hills, clouds and the moon,

All clapped together and welcomed me.

They called me to a new life full of joy,

With beauty and smile of nature around,

I stood up again and with a regained hope

Threw away all the useless things I collected.

The wide road to horizon invited me

To embrace joy and leave all worries,

Uttered, ‘the age is nothing but numbers’.

My new journey began with a lighter bag.
