A Midnight Conversation with God

How innocent, Good God, I was when I was born,

Will I be the same, when I die, when I'm gone?

How angelic, Almighty, was the first smile I made,

But will my final tear be corrupted the moment I fade?

"Why are you asking me? Depends only upon you."

answered the Celestial Being with a smile embracing virtue.

But aren't you the author of my book? Don't you already know where my fate ranks?

"What if I only named the chapters and left the context blank?

Left blank for you to fill them, since only upon you it depends

If you make the right call, you win, where if you don't, you'll repent."

O Lord! Neither you, nor my fate, am I solely responsible for my every deed?

"You always were, you certainly are and you will forever be."

If I brush up my soul hereupon, will then my death be satisfactory or is it just too late now?

"How can it be? How can't it be? The whole ball of wax, lies in the 'HOW'

But tardy it may get if you're just all talks, so step up what are you waiting for?

Beware my son, good-byes are sudden, they never warn."
