A Merry Go Round
By Purwa Rojindar
Aai Aai... See the Merry go round!
Aai... See the Fairy's wheel, see the Merry go round!
A fair has come to our town, with Columbus and Merry go round!!
Rainbow tinged is the Merry go round!
Seated in the heart of the town,
Oh... I see a tiny clown running around.
I asked Aai to let me have a round,
It was a No... Aai liked me safe and sound.
A few little moppets scared and frowned
at the adventure of Merry go round.
This rather raised my mother's pound.
To venture the adventure I took to cry,
So, my Aai would just let me try!
Aai consoling me said, "thy wearing a long gown, that doesn't let my heartbeats settle down?
I assured her, I will take all the care,
She doesn't need to worry or fear,
Just let me go, dare.
She mustered the courage,
Took me to the stage.
My ride was a pale-blue,
Decreed by Aai to stick to it as glue.
I tightened my seatbelt,
Marveling at the scare my mother felt.
Her fear and care were so bare.
Slowly, the wheel took it's pace,
my eyes went on the fair's hazy gaze.
The array of lights was miraculous to look,
Breaking the misty haze, to me,
someone's hand shook.
It was my Aai, smiling, on me was her eye.
The Merry go round went up, ecstacy was sky-high...
I pondered down at the sworm, wondered who are they and made why?? The next pulse, brought me to the same horde.
And, I oft wondered where differences lie.
I was absorbing my new found, when Aai hugged me around. Aai had a glowing face, she will always rule my great space.
Oh Merry go round, I will miss you when you will leave our ground. I wish you the bliss of your Mother's bound.
(To all those whose lives take them away from their Aai! Aai is Marathi for mother. )
