A Love They Can't Have
By Nisha Murali
“Lost in each other's company,
Little did they know, it is going to turn wonderful,
to be remembered for eons.
The awkwardness, they embraced.
The closeness, they desired for.
The moments, they wished to never end.
The times, they wanted to be struck in.
As they shrugged-off the world around,
A sinfully beautiful journey they embarked on together.
Yes, a magic that took them by a surprise.
Slowly dripped into each other, that whispered their flaws,
And yet somehow inhaled the storm together.
... Long forgotten, why it happened?
But in the depths of their soul, they are glad it happened.
Their ravished hearts pulsing endless beats,
Was a beautiful battle, which constantly they lost,
And left stranded amidst their chaos of emotions.
As the winds caressed the clouds, that's how quietly they messed each other's hearts. They wreaked havoc yet unapologetically smitten with their warmth.
In the insane world, theirs was some innocent love.
I remember when she lost her mind,
There was something so pleasant about that place,
that even his emotions had echo in so much space.
Stealthily grabbed a glimpse of her, And it wasn't long before, they could notice was only them. Goofed around with sanity,
Maniacs in disguise that unraveled in each other's company
Her heart so crumbled, sometimes dwindled but reborn when he smiled again. They knew, they didn't fall in love but walked into love with eyes wide open, And chose to take every step along the way.
Held their bodies close to each other,
Beneath the perfect sky; Shared their love together.
She was fire, He was ice.
One glimpse of her, ignited his stone-cold eyes.
The heat of her body melted the frozen parts of his heart,
While he pierced through flames just to feel her warmth.
His gaze, Her grace, stirred their souls.
Only to realize, they craved for each other in the most innocent form.
And the remedy to be next to each other and nothing.
Her lips unspoken, yet his eyes could narrate a tale.
To wake up to his kiss and end up curled in his arms at night is all she longed for. In the air, they breathed,
And with every breathe they took,
there was love, only More love,
quite a little bit fiery, certainly wild, and abundantly silly too.
Held their hands, they found their happy place.
But somewhere, they always knew it was only a tale to cherish this life... Yes, a love they can’t have. "
