A Light Within

By Amitesh Das

My mother smiled, despite her terrible pain.

She blessed me, ‘You will win, my son.’

It was her last wish.

It was her little prayer.

Silent tears rolled down for my mother.

My eyes glistened;

My soul whispered,

‘A mother can do this.

Only a mother can do this.’

Isn’t it a light within?

Isn’t it a win to be in the last prayer of a mother?
