The Lesson

You can’t find comfort in the things that keep breaking you,

And I feel like that’s a lot of people’s problem…including mine.

I tried so hard to find comfort in someone that didn’t even love me fully,

I mean, it was so hard for them to just, be kind and considerate,

But then I realised that you can’t be comforted by someone with closed arms…

Someone who’s not willing to wipe your tears off your cheeks, with their thumb…

And tuck your hair behind your ear, as it falls into your face…

Someone who won’t hold you close, tracing your hand and arm, with their index finger, until you peacefully fall asleep in their arms…

And then I realise that there is someone that would do that for me,

With no intentions of ever leaving,

Love me unconditionally,

Someone that would stay by my side, no matter what,

And allow me to always fully be myself…

Jesus that being.

Him willing and craving to comfort me,

To hug me,

To love me every day, every moment, every second.

And I will never have to ask Him or ever beg for His love and attention,

Because He died for me,

Before anyone else even knew my name…

He died for me,

Even though He knew I was going to live in sin and disown Him…

But through it all,

He never held my past against me,

And He loves me and always provides for me,

He’s there whenever I call,

And when I internally fee nothing at all.

So, I realised, that it was a lesson,

That it is so hard to have the expectations of Jesus in a mundane person.

It’s impossible.

But always try seeing His image and values, within someone.
