A Housewife's Lament

Updated: Jul 14

By Sujain Banth

A housewife's Lament All the pain she endures

All the insults she silently bears

I know she's not what they say

She is strong, deserving so much more

The tears she sheds, hoping for kindness, Fall unnoticed, as they turn away.

They take his side, never questioning his

wrongs,

Finding only faults in her

She's not crazy, not out of her mind

Just a human, fighting her battles, Living through the chaos

Longing to be heard

Her heart is pure, her soul untouched, Yet they choose to see only the flaws. No love, no understanding

Only hatred-and still, she treats them with

grace.

She's not naive; she knows the truth, She sees the lies they try to hide. All she asked was to be understood, To have a place in her own home, To be treated as a person, not a slave

But they never stood by her side, Always justifying his actions. Why? Because he earns their bread. But are they not both human

Guided by the same light?

Their cruel words broke her spirit

Their silence left her alone

And in the end, it wasn't them

But their indifference that killed her alive
