A Higher Power (But Not Really)

Momma asked me to lend her a hand

To slide my fingers beneath the dirt and to pour generously

These Margosa trees,

They bring with them,

Such pleasant shade

And abundant blessings

On your studies

It was nice, there was no resistance on my part

Unlike what they preached; the metaphysical, the supernatural, the terrifying

The gentle giants, they stood tall and still,

Extending their aeons of wisdom, towards the bright blue skies,

Perpetually ready for an embrace

One need not tell a (sensible) daughter to believe in ageless benevolence
