A Friend Indeed

I look forward to this meeting

Especially after a hard day

Often, there isn’t much we say

It’s just a quiet imbibing

This younger spirit lifts mine

Helps me get in touch with my soul

Heals my heart with its many holes

In the evenings, it’s our time

Occasionally, there are also other friends

And the influence on them is similar

We have cheerful banter

And life’s troubles, we mend

Joy and peace, this spirit can provide

In moderation, it’s as good as meditating

Whether it’s a golden malt I’m sipping

Or a different liquor, dark maroon, red or white.
