A Falling Leaf

By Sanika Karna

I fall down from the sky,

To the branches that held me, I wave goodbye,

I tumble down with the wind pushing me down,

I land with an expression short of a frown,

Life down here is sad and slow,

All I can do is watch the wind blow,

Is this what it’s like to be idle and lie?,

Is this what it’s like to die?,

My eyes shut and I see something bright,

Is that what happens when you die? Is that the light?
