A Conversation B/W Writer-Diary

By Manpreet Singh

From Writer to Diary:

Here I come, returning back to you

I thought I was moving forward,

Yet, you still stand on the same dot—

Where I left you

My Dear Diary, I’m returning back to you

You have dirt on your cover’s page,

Whilst I have it on my face

The sitting pen next to you tells the tale of you—missing me

That unfinished poem is so eager to be finished

Oh dear, what have I done—

I remember when no one listened to my silence,

You were there—you were the only one

I don't know how I will make it up to you—

Accept me back

Now that I’m returning back to you!

From Diary to Writer:

Well, well, well, look who knocked on the door

You were excited when you left—

I never thought that this quickly—you would get bored

Let's just not waste our time—

You left your inside world with me,

For the outside world— that you went to seek

So tell me, was it really worth a dime?

"It was... uhm... was beautiful..." (Writer interrupts)

LIE ALL YOU CAN!!

Then why are you here?

You knew it—what's inside you will never be found anywhere.

Who is there to blame—you or me?

We are tied in a knot,

Which you cannot see

I knew you would come around

My pages await you—

So, pick up that pen,

Write something and make that sketchy sound

Enough with the word—

I have nothing more left to say

Dear writer, I was, I am, and I will be yours—as long as those breaths in your chest stays
