In a dimly lit room, a woman stands alone,

Tears line her face, fear shakes her bone,

A victim of the dowry system, she's trapped in pain,

A cycle of misery, it's all she'll ever gain.





Her husband and in-laws demand gifts and cash,

Her worthlessness is a never-ending lash,

Her dreams and aspirations, all shattered,
