A CAT GAVE ME A LOOK

A cat gave me a look,

And said,” Is this what you people you do?”

I looked at a distance

A poor man running for his life, his sustenance

Came from behind a flock of armed goons

They who seemed like the guardians of hundreds of years of slavery

Jealous of his valour and his will full of bravery

Unfortunately to safeguard him not even a petal of a flower moved

A cat gave me a look,

And said “Is this what you people do?”

As I crossed a city

Saw people in too much pain and was feeling pity

No place for people to interact and gather

Children equipped with mobiles roaming without their father

Grandparents limited to the balconies longing to see not their own but strangers rather

My feline friend stared at me

Feeling disgusted I suddenly got scared

When I saw in the cat’s eye burning flares

I turned around and from little far came a scene

Of small patches of forests getting cleaned

Dainty birds with their kins stood still

Tearfully seeing how easily at someone’s hard work can water be spilled?

To justify the deeds of my fellow sapiens

No words came in my mouth

My whole conscience was shook

A cat gave me a look,

And ultimately said, “Is this what you people do?

It is you who will change

The human thoughts of selfishness and thoughts of narrow range”.

A very transient human-feline moment

Was it a journey?

No it was just a walk

Forced me to introspect and do self-talk

Our destination was common and that was home

And that’s where one must initiate

By accepting everything as one’s own!...
