3am Thoughts

Every morning in bed I lay awake at three, wishing I could be free.

Hoping that someone will finally hear my plea.

Unfortunately, a failure is all people could see.

I thought wearing a mask was the key.

I was clearly wrong, lying only made me pay a fee.

At one point it made me feel weak on one knee.

I only wanted to be me but for some reason that was not meant to be.

My heart wanted to flee.

I thought and thought and somehow that only made sure my emotions fought.

It left me wishing for everyone who hurt me to be known and caught.

I continuously replay everyone's words and expectations thinking how much easier it would be to send them my funeral invitations.

Maybe this time in my name, there will finally be celebrations.
