206 Personalities

Dear Perfection, I have 206 personalities.

I need you. Yours truly, Madison.

I have many personalities. Not one.

Maybe not 206 to be exact…

No, I’m not deranged. Not insane.

Allow me to elucidate my claim.

Sometimes I’m given ‘words of advice.’

“You’ll lose touch with reality.” Exactly!

Fingers crossed! Have you seen reality?

Usually living in a thousand fantasies.

Can’t I live there? Why here?

This is personality one of 206.

People don’t think I’ll go far.

All I do is read, right?

What’s my biggest fear? A 90%.

90%, I know. That’s someone’s dream.

I know I can do better.

I need to do better. Need.

My life has to mean something.

What if I can’t do well?

This is personality two of 206.

The overachiever; the overthinker. Insufferable perfectionist.

People wish they could revoke creativity.

Creativity makes me feel too strongly.

Maybe they’re getting tired of sparkles;

Maybe they’re ashamed of bright colours.

Childish. Immature. Not worth my time.

But colours are better than voids.

Colours give you something to feel.

Something other than mountains of pressure;

Something other than the throbbing pain.

This is personality three of 206.

So, my life’s a complete mess,

But 206 personalities is slightly extreme.

Maybe they all share a theme:

There’s only one way to live–

Always being perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

One thing we need to realize

Perfect isn’t perfect. Perfection always hurts.

Perfection only has a million flaws,

So don’t be perfect. Be genuine.

You can have 206 alternate personalities.

Promise me you won’t be perfect.

Dear Perfection, I have 206 personalities.

I’m so done. Not yours, Madison.
