What Will People Say?

By Tapasya

Sometimes when you get dressed to go out while looking at the mirror you must have thought for once, “What will people say if I wear these long earrings no no no… I'm going out to have fun with my friends not to be made fun of".

What are you thinking, once again between our choices and what people will say, what people will say won right, yes yes don't believe, keep consoling yourself saying you are free bird but when you hear these magical words “what will people say?” shiver will run down your spine for sure but then the question comes who are these people and is it ok to set aside our desires, our likes and dislikes just to have a good image in society. The society which never really cares except when it comes to criticize, you just ask yourself is it really correct?

So, it was the time when students enter the teenage. Girls with open hair some even died them, skirts length one in shorter, chewing gum in mouth everyone changed but I just holded my slogan that I will never change but something did really changed more pimples but less friends, less people to share my feelings around. Yeah, there were many people who never left my side and sticked with me even in my worst like my parents and my one and only best friend.

We are always being judged when it comes to brain, face or your dresses size and sometimes you are manners are not nice. Once I was going to meet a woman but she was a labour. I bet you would have already imagined her in your mind like, not a fair lady wrapped in a normal saree etc etc. You would have imagined all the things which are not so impressive but not her struggles not the things she would have gone through of.

Being a woman isn't easy especially when it comes to this judgemental society where you are even judged on your dressing style. Must seems funny to some of you but it's actually very heart breaking when somebody says, you should not go to earn men and already enough, must be tough to hear it is a society which claims to treat everyone equally irrespective of their cast, creed, gender,

identity, financial status etc but not everyone is same. You don't know how it feels when you are being compared to someone just because you are a girl, you don't know how it feels when you are not allowed to go out just because you are a girl, don't know how it feels when you are not allowed to study just because you are a girl but some people do know still as sweet smile plastered across the faces.

Some judgemental, narrow-minded people say don't talk to a woman in English and at some point, they are right. How will a women know English when they are not taught and not even given the opportunity to learn. I asked that labourer women “how do you will live in society who is not ready to accept you?”. She calmy said, when I accepted myself that I am the one for myself, I am who I am, I tried a lot to make the society do the same but it couldn't happen. she exclaimed that the society she is trying to match her standards with is not really of her level.

The society which says if a woman doesn’t earn her leaving, she is dependent on her husband or father and if she earns people say she is building a castle in the air. In a society where a boy doesn’t cry mean he is stone hearted or cold hearted and if he does then he isn’t a man. If the society doesn't accept me, it would be much better. So, I asked further should we forget about what people will say and not care at all? She replied I didn't say so what people will say definitely matters but you will decide who these people are.

The people who love you and whom you love they will never leave your side and stick to you even in your worst, will never judge you she explained that don't change yourself thinking about the people who don't love you, no matter what they will always find a way to pull you down but you have to stay strong and keep your roots firmly in the ground and never let go. Assume yourself as a plant and the people who love you as the ground no matter what they will always try their best to never let go, no matter how strong the storm is, how heavy it is raining. So, be yourself, love yourself and never let anyone to take your down and one more thing don't think too much about what people will think if you will only thing would people will think then actually what they are going to think?
