Phoenix

Fragile leaf, she was in the breeze, Yielding to the bellowing gale, Unresisting, delicate, frail, The wind forced her down on her knees, Never knew a moment of ease, Bound by rules, under their control, Prejudice tore open her soul, Yet, she breathed, made it through the night, Only to hope to see the light, That would once again, make her whole.
Answering her silent invite, The wild, raging tempest blew in, And lit her up with hope within, Till she glowed with it, clear and bright, It urged her to resist, to fight, For the ideal world she so craved, Strengthened her for the hurdles braved, She was fierce and she made her stand, Her efforts were not futile, and, Somewhere, a little girl was saved.
