Cadaver Our First Teacher

Updated: Feb 7

Theme: A tribute to the cadaver that laid the foundation in the journey to be a healthcare professional.

Oh tomb of flesh and bone,

You are my first abode,

As I entered medicines threshold,

You are one of the cornerstones.

The entry to your formalin world,

Ensnared the senses.

An oath by my conscience,

An unbreakable vow commences.

Acknowledging your identity,

Is not a mere formality,

For the respect you deserve,

For every human is reserved.

Seeking the knowledge in your alcoves,

We, hopefully humble, pupils come in droves,

In and around you we build,

The world once where you had lived.

For the sacrifice you made,

Many lives were remade.

For the knowledge you parted,

Was a priceless aid.

We spent time,

Worth more than a million dimes.

An immeasurable contribution to society,

Such the world wouldn't show any impiety.

Your soul can rest in peace,

Knowing you have made your mark,

Through us, your pupils won't cease,

For your knowledge is eternal and not scarce.
