A Mother's Reluctance
By Angeline Vaisika. P
From the day it was sown,
Till this day in her arms
Never let it down,
Or near any worms.
An instant or hours
Never left its side.
Did not accept flowers
Because she was afraid.
Protected from harsh sunlight
Keeping cool and calm,
Kissed it good night
And whispered the Psalm.
Never let any visitors
Wearing black,
Or any spectators
Scared they would hijack.
She did not eat,
As it neither did
Her mind filled like on concrete,
Concentrated as acid.
Drifting away, visualizing
It walking on feet
Not accepting,
It had no heartbeat.
