शुभ दीपावली

By Akshar Tekchandani

राम लखन सीता घर आए,

चौदह बरस बन में बिता के;

अवध में जन-जन हर्ष मनाएं,

हर पग घर दर दीप जलाके |

दसानन कौ घमंड हराके,

वानर संग सीते को बचाके |

समय चक्र फिर घूमा भाई,

अवध में नव उमंग लौट आई |

वक्त अवध जन की हसरत का,

लौट आया तारा दसरथ का |

आओ मनाएं सब त्यौहार दीपावली,

त्यौहार दीपावली, त्यौहार दीपावली ||

Since I am a student of Kathak, the corresponding video with this entry is of me dancing and expressing this poem’s words to a rhythmic recitation of this poem in my voice only. I am sure that video will be explanatory, and I sincerely hope you will enjoy it.

Below is a JPG of the same kavitta. In it, if you notice, each line has four syllables underlined. Thereby indicating which syllable has emphasis / clap on it, while reciting the poem to a rhythmic loop of four claps. Towards the end in some places, the underline is not actually on a syllable, but a dot in between syllables, thus showing emphasis is mid-word in those places. This is a basic ‘Notation’

(लिपिबद्ध करना) in Music-Dance.
