Soothing Solitude

By Indrani Anant Deo

Gales swift through the stalks of stems,

A river ripples forward, giving glamor to its name,

The  sky rouses the meadow with its light,

Mothers cradling their babies, up and bright,

The sight of farmers sowing, echoes around,

A blissful feeling of solitude, soothing sounds,

Watching the sun dip behind the magnificent mountains,

Flora and fauna dazzling like crystal fountains,

Scarlet to sapphire in less than an hour,

The independent commotion radiating its power,

Fireflies and crickets in a mesmerizing dance,

A solitude soothing the mind at first glance,

A blanket of stars covers the day,

Lullaby of the Moon, a stream of the Milky Way,

Animals yawning and cuddling, all fears apart,

Just a feeling of peace in the mind and heart,

Readying to start another new tomorrow,

In the soothing solitude of the beautiful meadow.
