“Udeek”

Kinj pichhe palat main tu takna?

(how do I turn around while leaving, and look at you?)

je teri akhaa'n vicho'n meri udeek vi nai

(when there isn't any longing in your eyes for me)

Kinj baari cho'n nazeer tainu labhnna?

(how do my eyes look out for you from my window?)

Kinj nave basere aap de hi vasna?

(how do I settle into my new home without you?)

jithe kandha'n vi saanu

 tanj bathere kasdi payi

(where even the walls tantalize and scorn at me)

 jithe boohe jad khulleya’n

salaba'n haafzaa teriya'n vehndi rayi…

(where even the door when opens,

the flood of your memories flow)

Kinj mih di zehmataa'n saari

handaya jehde asi naal sii?

(remember, how did we persist together through the tormenting rains?)

kinj Heer di sidak akheer

hetha mazaar de jaayil pai gayi!

(eventually, the yearnings of Heer for Ranjha went fruitless under the mausoleum!)

lagda Reejh nu vi sarmo di

jiwe'n darkaar hi naa rahi...

(it seems that even Reejh no more waits for the season of winters to arrive)

{"Reejh" the name my beloved would call me by, winter is our favorite season}

main tareekha'n ginn di haardi payi

(I kept on counting days while longing for you, and kept on losing myself)

par teri akhaa'n vicho'n meri

udeek vi naa rahi…

(but there isn't any longing in your eyes for me)
