Through The Eyes Of A Best Friend

Updated: Jul 15

By Anem Justina Mossang

Love filled eyes,

Fresh kisses, the reason of her smile,

Tis the season of love,

The season  of an emotion so vile.

I see it in the way she walks,

And the way she carefully adjusts her laughter,

To seem “appealing” for the boy she loves,

While unknowingly herself, she begins to blur.

Now she picks herself apart,

For someone who makes her light dull ,

Each part of her, a flaw to her,

Real compliments seem fake, outrageous, criminal.

She has changed. Thinner, paler, more insecure,

But she will tell you, it’s for the better,

Even when mascara tears run down her face,

As she reads her beloved’s “love” letter.
