Shorter Days, Longer Nights

By Nishtha Mishra

How I hate myself,

How I despise,

These days are shorter,

And longer are these nights.

Good things don’t last,

Sadness doesn’t suffice.

One bad thing ruins it all,

Happiness isn’t infinite.

Nothing anymore,

Is shiny and bright.

These days are shorter,

Or rather, longer are these nights.

But the sun didn’t rise,

It’s just the night sky,

Cloudy weather,

It might rain on me tonight,

These days are shorter,

Longer are these nights,

Right when the moon is sad,

I’m in the darkness on the longest of nights.
