"My dear Watson,"
In a boastful voice said he,
Took the cigar out and stated,
"It's all quite elementary"
Pointing outside the window
He looked towards the street
"You see but you do not observe."
Thereupon he began to speak.
"Right across the street
Over that very building
A man stands with a torch
from which, the light is twinkling."
"But Sherlock-"
Dr. Watson brought an interruption,
"My friend, shortly you shall
Understand my deduction.
To the common eye it is merely
light from across the road.
But if you survey it, clearly
That is nothing but Morse Code."
"Sherlock, I am trying to-"
Spoke Watson, but again in vain.
"It's quite alright, my dear Watson,
Allow me to explain.
Now, would you be so kind to
Note down the following,
M...N...I..." Continued Sherlock
Staring at the light flickering.
Sherlock stopped, aghast at Watson
"I reckoned you were noting."
Watson, now absolutely annoyed
Said, "Let me show you something."
At once he brought
The binoculars from the closet
Told Sherlock to look through them,
Take a good look at the target.
Sherlock was struck dumb.
"As I was trying to tell you,
'Twas the construction crane's light
That misguided you.
A week has passed, Sherlock,
We must take an appointment
With the ophthalmologist,
For your eyes' improvement.
For you have Myopia,
The condition of short sightedness.
You cannot see, let alone observe
Things kept at far distances."
And so, Sherlock gets glasses
To better his vision.
Such was the story of
"A Case of Blurred Precision."
