Paper Boat

By Safa Faruq

I struggle to see the light,

As thoughts of ending it take flight.

The world is changing in the blink of an eye,

It's hard to keep up and not cry.

I scream out loud, but nobody hears.

My fears and doubts tug at my heartstrings,

Making a sound so beautiful

Yet so painful.

I keep on surviving every day,

Even if my mind cries in agony.

Like a floating paper boat,

I lay on the surface, floating.
