Not Our Time

Updated: Aug 28

By Ojeswi Medisetti

I’ll always choose you

in sickly sweet moments—

in bottomless melancholy

take my hands and punish me

for your sins and mine

look for me beyond your time

your story’s written for this life

going against your fate’s design

is never a part of our line

you chose me—

you chose to change the world’s fate

an eternity of bewitching rain

for an immortal sunshine

shall I wait for you

under the sheets of time?

no God’s generosity could

rearrange the stars for us

I’ll always look for you

cursing my faulty luck

till the end of this road—

at the beginning of my next ode.
