An Equal Music…

By Indira Penubolu

Anticipating Summer,

In a burst of hazy colours,

None the duller-Gulaal and Green,

Yellow and Red

Orange and blue

Swirling all around us,

Our spirits abuzz.

Loving hands greeting the face with gulaal,

Tight hugs that leave Kurtas full of colour,

Splashed with water,

Rivulets cascade,

Through tresses and cheeks,

And down the spine-

 A refreshing serenade.

Friendly banter,

And the mad rush,

To escape being dunked into a drum of water,

Or away from hands filled with silver suner.

To the clanging Music,

To the beat of the Dhol,

With exuberance, we soared,

In an effervescent uproar,

Some Jalebi, Beer and Bhang

To heighten our revelry,

Amidst all that Rang.

Embracing the Spirit of Holi,

In harmony, we danced merrily,

Our hearts united, as one.

As we swayed and spun

- to and with-
