Against All Odds

Not another pill I groan,

How many is that today? 10? 20?

Where can I find the strength to fight?

I sit in this bed.

A tiny window for a view.

Who can I believe in?

Day after day it’s nothing new.

My fears and uncertainties like sickness grows.

Someone quick. Please hold my hand.

Inside myself deeper I crawl.

TOO MUCH!

I want to scream.

Refusal to let go.

Trapped inside me it destroys.

I see you friend.

Beside me through it all.

I look to you, my strength

Anew. I look at my reflection.

A stranger do I see.

I trust in my belief in ME!

I see inside and have no fear.

For hope, courage and faith are near.

In this moment I know I shall overcome
