Deep into the dense woods,
Her triumphant feet went hobbling,
Under the grey blanket of pallor.
The silent echoes could reach her ears—
Which yelled, “Come fast! Come fast!”
She looked around, but
There was hardly anyone to be found.
Long was the faraway stretch to walk,
Her tizzy-tired heart refused to talk.
The cool howling spirit murmured,
“Let’s walk! Let’s walk!”
She looked up at the vast cloudy sky—
Which had just one star, beside
The shining moon, which showed her
Just a glimpse of light.
She didn’t have the grip of any hand,
Still, she had her shadow stuck to her feet,
Which was walking along in the moonlight.
The leaves of the trees hissed from high,
Her ears were unable to hear its sigh.
“How much more to walk?” She questioned the sky,
“Can you see my home?”
She yelled to the tall trees that stood beside,
The gushing waves then giggled,
“Come here! Come here!
I am not so far!”
“Ah! We are close,”
The agonized heart then suddenly replied.
Her feet hustled ahead,
She then saw the glimpse of
A stream of flowing water from afar.
Her lips now stretched,
The eyebrows turned bow-shaped.
Her weary eyes sparkled brightly
When she saw her home athwart.
She now slept on the grass,
Looking back to the hopeless start.
Now, when the sun rose and asked,
“Dear little straggler, how was your path?”
With her closed eyes, she said:
“A walk to remember,
It was
A walk to remember.”
